Two kinds of equipment

Class equipment
Boss drops persist for the class. Inspect each piece and its source in Armory gear and drop tables.
Run jewelry
Rings, trinkets and amulets are offered during attempts. The Codex records discoveries.

Match effect to problem

Attacks connect, enemies survive
Compare damage, target coverage or a connected talent.
You cannot stay alive long enough
Compare recovery, maximum health or damage reduction.

Heroic & gear stars

Normal completion with a class opens that class’s Heroic access. Clearing Heroic N opens the next difficulty account-wide and permits the clearing class’s gear from that zone to reach N stars. Upgrading still happens in the Armory.

Set-bonus milestones

4 matching pieces
Each at 1 star
8 matching pieces
Each at 3 stars
Empowered 8-piece
All eight at 5 stars

Choose the next upgrade

Keep the class, zone and difficulty fixed. Compare one piece or one effect, then note whether it improves clearing, the named encounter or survival. A stronger crowd result alone does not establish stronger boss damage.
