Start at the original game

Open Aethus’s game page. Browser play requires WebGPU; the same page links the Windows download. The original launcher checks its host and whether it is framed, so open it directly if an embedded copy will not start.

For Windows extraction steps or a Mac, Linux, Steam Deck or mobile device, start with the download and device guide. If the launcher shows a WebGPU or HTTP error before the hero picker appears, use troubleshooting; changing a class will not fix a startup failure.

Use the hero picker to choose a class, check its starting spell and select an available zone. Talents can change the opening spell, so a class name alone does not tell you the exact starting setup.

Before entering, check three things: which spell you start with, which zone and difficulty are selected, and whether you are using the browser profile that holds your progress. If you are completely new, choose an available Normal run and leave Heroic for after you understand the selected class.

Change bindingsOptions → Key Bindings. Select a binding and assign your preferred input.

These are the picker prompts in the checked client. Your saved bindings can differ. If a shortcut does nothing, click inside the game and inspect Key Bindings before assuming the game has frozen.

The table describes keyboard and mouse prompts. On touch devices, use the controls actually shown by your client and check movement and card selection first; desktop shortcuts are not a promise of controller or touch compatibility on every device.

Make the first choices

  1. Read the starting spell and the selected talents before entering. Choose one attack or interaction you want to explore.
  2. When cards appear, compare what each changes: damage, targets, reach or availability. Prefer a choice that supports the spell you are using.
  3. Keep an open route around the crowd. Collect rewards when you can reach them without closing that route.
  4. After the attempt, identify the immediate problem: too little clearing, a boss you could not finish, or damage you could not avoid. Change one part of the plan.

This is a suggested learning routine, not a tested optimal opening. The individual class pages name concrete talent interactions you can inspect.

What ended the attempt?Change one thing next time
You repeatedly walked into a closed crowd.Keep a route out before moving toward rewards; do not judge damage from that mistake alone.
You survived but struggled to clear enemies.Check your main spell’s actual effect and choose upgrades that improve its useful damage or coverage.
Your planned interaction never appeared.Re-read the required talent, rank and spell relationship in the spellbook.
A new build felt worse.Compare the same class, zone and difficulty, and record which talent or item you changed.

Use the class build directory to choose a route, then the mechanics guide when a system or reward is unclear.

What persists between runs

SystemWhere to check it
Class equipmentArmory. The client describes boss equipment as a permanent class reward.
Talent pointsThe Armory’s Talents tab, between runs. The checked client describes respecs as free.
Run jewelryThe Codex records rings, trinkets and amulets offered during runs. Do not confuse this record with permanent class equipment.
Zone accessThe picker shows the requirements for the class you selected.

The equipment guide explains these systems in more detail. A card or item name borrowed from Warcraft does not guarantee the same effect as in World of Warcraft.

You can compare talent allocations in this site’s talent planner before changing them in the game. Its share link stores a plan; it does not apply points to your character or synchronize your save.

Back up before switching

Use Options → Saves → Export Save before changing browser profiles or devices. An import replaces the account progress rather than merging it. Follow the save backup guide before restoring or deleting stored data.

Ready for a harder run?

The checked client requires a Normal clear with the selected class to open that zone’s Heroic difficulty. Read the selected difficulty modifiers before comparing builds. For multiplayer, every participant needs access to the chosen zone and difficulty with their own class; see co-op setup.
